June Is National Homeownership Month!
June has finally arrived!
Around here, that means more than just sunshine and farmers markets (but don't get it twisted, we're thrilled about those too). It means we get a whole month dedicated to one of our favorite topics: homeownership.
There's something really special about handing someone the keys to a place they can truly call their own. It never gets old. And every June, the entire country takes the time to acknowledge and celebrate that feeling through National Homeownership Month.
A Brief History
The roots of this observance trace back to 1995, when President Clinton launched the "National Homeownership Strategy," an initiative aimed at expanding access to homeownership for more Americans. June was designated as the perfect month to spotlight that mission. Then, in 2002, President George W. Bush formally proclaimed June as National Homeownership Month, reinforcing homeownership as one of the cornerstones of the American dream and a proven path to building long-term, generational wealth and strong community ties. Since then, it's become an honored tradition, and the real estate community has rallied around it each year.
Why It Still Matters
Owning a home is more than just a financial investment: it's roots. It's the neighborhood you know by heart, the neighbors who become reliable friends, and the space that's truly, completely yours. In a world that moves fast, home is where we can slow things down.
