Is it just us, or does the air in Waunakee smell a little bit like... potential?

At The Holt Real Estate Team, we know that spring in "The Only Waunakee in the World" is about more than just checking your sump pump and eyeing the garden center at Ace Hardware. It’s the season when the community shakes off the winter chill and reminds residents why they chose to plant roots there.

Whether you’re a long-time resident or you’re currently browsing homes for sale in Waunakee, there is a unique energy that comes with the first thaw. We’ve rounded up the best local events starting in April to help you get out, meet the neighbors, and enjoy the season.

1. Public Safety Blood Drive

Spring is the season of renewal, so why not start it off on the right foot by giving back? Waunakee's local public safety teams are hosting a blood drive to help support the community. It’s a small act that makes a huge impact, and it’s a great way to say thanks to our local first responders while you're there.

  • When: Saturday, April 4, 2026 | 9:00am to 2:30pm

  • Where: Waunakee Fire Department (401 W. Second Street)

  • More Info: Village of Waunakee Calendar

2. Easter Brunch at The Lone Girl

Celebrate Easter Sunday in the heart of downtown! The Lone Girl is hosting its annual brunch featuring a special menu (with a name like "Freight Train Burrito," I think it's safe to say you should come hungry) and a chance for the kids to meet the Easter Bunny. It’s a local favorite, so reservations are a must. (And while you're there, check out the rest of their stacked event calendar, including the Rotary Club Fundraiser below!)

  • When: Sunday, April 5, 2026 | Reservations starting at 9:00 AM

  • Where: The Lone Girl Brewing Company (114 E. Main Street)

  • More Info: Lone Girl Event Reservations

3. Chip & Chips Fundraiser (Golf & Poker)

Looking for a reason to dust off the ol' 9 Iron? The Waunakee Rotary Club is hosting a double-header fundraiser. Kick off the day with a golf scramble at The Meadows of Six Mile Creek, and finish it off with a poker tournament at Lone Girl Brewing Company. (Get it? Chip & Chips?) It’s competitive, social, and supports the local Rotary initiatives!

  • When: Friday, April 17, 2026 | Golf at 10:00 AM / Poker at 6:30 PM

  • Where: The Meadows of Six Mile Creek (800 N Century Ave) & Lone Girl Brewing Company

  • More Info: Waunakee Rotary Club

4. Experience Waunakee

If you want to see everything the village has to offer in one place, this is the event for you. "Experience Waunakee" showcases local businesses, organizations, and the general spirit of the community. This is the inaugural event of (hopefully!) many, so it’s the perfect experience for newcomers to get "plugged in" and for long-time residents to see what’s new in town.

  • When: Saturday, May 9, 2026 | 11:00 AM – 6:00 PM

  • Where: Waunakee Chamber of Commerce Depot (Reeve Park - 100 E. Main St)

  • More Info: Waunakee Chamber Event Page

5. Waunakee Farmers & Makers Market

The official herald of spring! Starting in mid-May, you can head to the Historic Train Depot every Wednesday to grab fresh produce, local honey, and handmade crafts. It is the definitive midweek "Waunakee vibe."

  • When: Wednesdays starting in May (TBD: Check the Chamber calendar below for updates!)

  • Where: 100 E. Main Street (behind the Depot)

  • More Info: Waunakee Chamber Calendar

Why Community Matters to Your Home Value

As real estate experts, you'll definitely hear us talk about "location, location, location." But what makes a location truly valuable is the community connection. Seeing the turnout at a local fundraiser or the energy at a Trivia Night tells us everything we need to know about the strength of the Waunakee market.

People want to live where things are happening, and right now, Waunakee is the place to be!

Are you planning a spring move? Whether you need a bigger yard for that new garden or you’re looking to downsize and stay close to the downtown action, the Holt Real Estate Team is here to guide you!
